Microsoft Office 15 Development

The next version of Microsoft's office productivity suit will be made available for public beta testing in the summertime.

Office 15 is the codename for the successor to Microsoft 2010 which was released in June 2010. When launched, the current version of Office included Office Web Apps, or cloud-based versions of Microsoft's most popular office productivity programs that can be accessed via a web browser and an internet connection, to access Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote documents. These can all be viewed, edited or shared even on a machine that does not have the office suite installed.

So what will be new to Microsoft Office 15? Well details are very sketchy at this stage but it's a possibility that Microsoft will release a version of the suite that will run on ARM-based devices powered by Windows 8, Microsoft's forthcoming OS expected to be released later this year.

"Office 15 is the most ambitious undertaking yet for the Office Division. With Office 15, for the first time ever, we will simultaneously update our cloud services, servers, and mobile and PC clients for Office, Office 365, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Project, and Visio," said PJ Hough, CVP of Development in the Microsoft Office Division.

"Quite simply, Office 15 will help people work, collaborate, and communicate smarter and faster than ever before."

"A Technical Preview program for Office 15 has just commenced and marks the first-time the new version of the office suite has been shared with a select group of Microsoft's customers."

"These customers play a key role in our development process by testing early builds and providing feedback, which we incorporate into the final release," added Hough.

I am honoured to have worked with MJC on our new IT system. I consider them to be 'our' engineers when talking to 3rd parties and we would not have received the funding for this project without our Sales Consultant.
